Open Riser Stairs

I really like the challenge of building open riser stairways. The beauty of the wood is visible from all angles. This makes for a real showpiece, but the construction process is a little harder, as it must look good from every direction. Also, in cases where there are “dogleg” laminated beams intersecting other beams, it can turn into a real engineering challenge. Here are some examples of some open riser stairs we have done in recent years. The intersecting beam project was done in White Oak, while the straight beam job was built of exotic Tiger Wood.
